*** Streamin’ Steve’s 39th Live Streaming Show ***

Live Music Fans,

As you know by now, every Friday Night in the Streak is a different challenge to book.  This week, the challenge was making a live music show happen on a very special day of the year.  But, the Streak has a mind of its own and only cares about staying alive. I really would hate to have to start another Streak over at #1.  So, I was happy to hear from an old friend and local musician who was up for playing this week. Another Friday in the books.  Good news to me.

Brad “Bradman” Manosevitz is not only the one to save the Streak but he’s the reason why we are streaming shows in this crazy, no audience time in the first place.  It was several years ago when Brad suggested that we talk with GrassrootsTV in Aspen about borrowing some of their unused, old equipment.  He installed the old cameras and we started recording live shows with the old, analog cameras. This gave us a big push to upgrade to high quality HD cameras along with some excellent equipment.  Our current streams of live music have happened for 38 nights and they look and sound fantastic. Best ever!  And, our shows are getting hundreds of views which is great in this epidemic.  I hope you are getting to enjoy some of it.  Much of my thanks in getting to this point in sharing the live music with Streamin’ Steve’s goes to Bradman.

It’s friends and fans of the old shop like Brad that keep it going through all kinds of difficult times.  Another example is that the old Dinkel Building is up for sale for $5M and my landlord for 28 years is giving up ownership. It’s been a long run with Tony Mazza and he has always been fair with us and let us make an amazing amount of live music in his fantastic, historic space.  I can only hope the next landlord likes what we do every week.

Into the new year with a new landlord just adds to the uncertainty of running a music venue in Covid-19 times. Just like every year since 1993. Wish us luck!  Meanwhile, enjoy the streams and look forward to coming to shows like the old times, sooner than later.

Bradman was a big part of making Streamin’ Steve’s a reality and getting it all started.  Here’s a few words that I wrote to the volunteers who got it started way back on May 1st.  It was quite fortunate that our fundraising campaign happened before the virus shut us down for having in-shop audiences.  Without the new cameras and the streaming equipment, GrassrootsTV and all our generous sponsors, the shop might have just had to shut down.  That was a close one!  On to the next.

Streamin’ Steve’s Crew,

Here we are in the home stretch of making a longtime dream happen in the old shop.  It is totally ironic that we start our live streaming in HD when we can’t have a live audience. It still feels good to make live music happen on our 980th Consecutive Friday Night.  I can’t wait to enjoy some live music in the front room even if it’s just little old me at the soundboard.  And I just love the idea of building an audience for our live streams.  Already I have been getting email thanks for last Friday night’s test stream from people in Hawaii, California, Oregon, Arizona, Boulder and more places than I even expected.  Very cool to see and we are going to make new fans with the high quality HD video and audio stream.  Thanks for all your help so far.  It got us to the starting line for streaming all our music shows.  Here we go!

Join the live stream on www.grassrootstv.org and remember you can donate some support to the musicians to help keep them alive during these challenging times.  It’s all we have right now and it’s way better than nothing.  Don’t you think?  Hope so. We remain patiently waiting for it to feel safe for hosting audiences like for over 20 years before.  Until then, we will keep the streams coming thanks to your support and well wishes.  Please keep them coming our way.  Continued thanks to our many sponsors listed partially below who have made the streams happen in this time living with Covid-19.  Be well!
