Friday Night with the Amazing Dan Sheridan – No Mans Land Film Festival Events

Live Music Fans,

Fall is in the air and the leaves are changing to let us know the cold season is heading our way.  We had a fantastic summer of live music in the shop, the Town Plaza and Sopris Park.  Hope you got to enjoy some of it. Now, we enter another season when we have to shut the front doors to the shop to keep the cold out.  And hope to get lucky with bookings when the number of touring acts goes way down.  I’m happy to say we have had a number of excellent acts booking the room despite the challenging weather in the coming months.  A new Upcoming Shows email is on the way.

This week, we have the pleasure of booking one of our all-time favorite local singer/songwriter/guitarists for more of his beautiful original songs.  Dan Sheridan has entertained folks in the valley for decades in several different bands and as a great solo act.  If you have not heard Dan before this show, please take the time this Friday Night to enjoy his wonderful tunes.  He’s one of our best songwriters in the valley.

And, once again, we are happy to participate in the annual No Mans Land Film Festival by hosting all kinds of events including some DJ music from September 13th through the 16th.  We were involved with the first two annual Festivals and loved to be a part of this successful local event based in Carbondale.  The festival was founded by Aisha Weinhold who grew up in town and runs a local business, too.  Just another fine example of the creative local folks who make life more interesting, educational and entertaining around here.  Check out for more details.

See you at the shows!

We have been listening to Dan’s songs in the room since last century.  It is a real challenge to write an original song that will stay in the minds of a listener.  Dan has a real talent for writing songs that stick in my mind; more than any other local tunesmith.  He writes tender songs about love and sweet ones about a dogs love for his master.  He is a real musical treasure to be seen whenever possible.  Check him out this Friday.

“A balance between politically-charged modern themes and timeless stories built on emotive melodies, complex open tunings and a wry sense of humor.”

“When an artist truly has something to say, others easily recognize it. This is the case with the most recent collection of songs by Dan Sheridan on his new release, Recycle.”

“Beyond the strong melodies and the effortless flow of words is a simple feeling that these songs may have always existed, and Sheridan’s deft touch as a songwriter merely uncovered them. This is the magic of Sheridan’s work, and what has made him one of today’s most artistic singer-songwriters. Never resorting to shock value or falling back on time worn cliches, the beauty of Sheridan’s work lies in the longing and detachment of his characters in these pastoral landscapes.”

“No Man’s Land Film Festival is an all-woman adventure film festival based out of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado that meets a need and desire to highlight and connect individuals who identify as women in pursuit of the radical. We are a collaboration and celebration of humans who are deeply engaged in enhancing the female presence in the adventure arena. The goal of this festival is to connect like-minded individuals who are action-oriented, wish to support a shared vision of gender equality, have a desire to experience their passions and environments through a uniquely female lens, and above all, love adventure. Along with cultivating a deep interest in exploring the vastness of our planet from a female point of view, No Man’s Land strives to create a history of motivating audiences to implement and inspire change. Our mission transcends the films presented; this festival acts as a platform for progressive thought and movement in the outdoor industry.  At No Man’s Land, we aim to un-define feminine in adventure and sport through film.”

The Festival will be using the shop this week for the a number of functions with the local filmmakers along with a DJ performance on Saturday Night.  Should be another cool, locally created event.
