*** Streamin’ Steve’s 23rd Live Streaming Show ***

Live Music Fans,

Way back in 1980, I made my first live music on a guitar upstairs in the Dinkel Building when I bought two guitars from Wally’s Music.  Then in 1993, I bought the store from Wally Bacon and started Steve’s Guitars.  Right from the start we were making live music happen in the old, historic Dinkel and booking just about every local musician and some great touring acts.  We made hundreds of shows happen before we decided to make live music happen EVERY Friday.  It started with T.Ray Becker playing his cool original songs opening for “Angel” a neo-hippy songwriter from Hawaii.  Since then, we have continued to host our talented local musicians along with some truly amazing touring acts like The Band of Heathens, John Oates, Lake Street Dive, Mandolin Orange and so many more.  We hope you have got to enjoy some of it over the decades.

In these restricted, Covid-19 times, we are still limiting our live music to Streamin’ Steve’s and this is our 23rd stream in the new normal.  The special night will start with a taped segment with me, Mary Margaret, Shannon and Little Bear giving a little history about the old shop and the Friday Night Streak.  Then, we get to host the guy who helped start the whole thing, Wally Bacon.  He will give some unique background on our crazy music biz and talk about his music life in Carbondale dating back to the 70’s.  Next will be a great representative of the next generation of local songwriters, Wes Engstrom and his brother Jay. We started booking Wes back in his high school days and have enjoyed supporting his development as a talented singer-songwriter-guitarist.

We end the evening with two of our favorite local acts.  The Curry’s have been playing the shop since the start and are true musical ambassadors for the valley’s vibrant music scene.  Valle Musico will bring some gorgeous guitar sounds with John, Bruce and Pat taking the stage again for some beautiful songs.  Pat Winger was one of my first room mates who shared the risk and rent for the first few years.  It’s very appropriate that Pat join in on the celebration that started 1000 weeks ago.  Come out and meet some of the most important players in our history.  We would not be celebrating 1000 Friday Nights in a Row without these good friends of Steve’s.

Enjoy the stream! Keep the faith that we will return to hosting our fantastic live audiences again.  Sooner than later is the dream! And, in the music biz, hope springs eternal.
