Our Story

Steve's Guitars has been in the Dinkel Building in Downtown Carbondale, CO since 1993 and has presented live music every week since then! Our music room is not a bar, restaurant or coffee shop, but rather a unique venue that puts music as the first priority.

In an intimate listening room on Fourth Street, with vintage guitars adorning the walls and hanging from the ceiling, people have gathered weekly on Friday evenings to hear live music for nearly three decades. The cozy setting almost feels like someone’s living room, with old movie-theater seats and plush couches to sink into while you take in the show, which could feature local acts just getting their start in the biz or veterans on the scene.

Past artists include: John Oates, Mandolin Orange, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Chris Smither, Carrie Rodriguez, Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka, Danny Barnes, Wood & Wire, Seth Walker, Jeffrey Foucault & many more.

Almost every concert is streamed.

Steve’s Guitars is a 50 seat venue with flexibility to remove chairs and create additional standing room for listeners when the music calls for it.

We have a qualified sound engineer at every show, running the board and monitors. Ralph Pitt mixes 90% of the concerts here now. With over 50 years of experience in the live music arena as Foh/Mon and Recording Engineer he designed and built the original sound system for the Belly Up in Aspen as well as 22 years with the Original Belly Up Tavern, Solana Beach, Ca. as System Designer, Tech/Foh/Mon engineer.
